Raised in California, the scion of a prominent political family, 11 year-old Alex goes to Crete to act as godfather to the child of a local party cadre and aspiring parliamentary deputy. He becomes a first-time godfather to show everyone, above all his father, that he is a worthy son. His foreign appearance and broken Greek, the local customs and the trials he undergoes to prove himself all make for tragicomic scenes with a political dimension and existential angst. His first baptism in the “art and artifice of politics” will mark him for life!
